Iraq, Nadhmi Auchi’s country of birth, has been riven by war, conflicts with the West and with inter-ethnic and sectarian violence. The turbulent environment in which Nadhmi grew up as a student helped to shape his concerns as a philanthropist.
Much of his charitable and humanitarian work has been directed to promoting unity among Arab states, to building bridges between the West and the Arab world, and to promoting inter-faith dialogue.
Nadhmi Auchi believes that economic development is an important building block for creating the stable political conditions in which people can reach a common understanding through peaceful means. Education and healthcare are two key factors that help facilitate such economic progress, which is why Nadhmi Auchi is also a major supporter of educational and healthcare charities.
